Online Student Requirements

To run the Elluminate program on the student’s system, these requirements must be fulfilled:

System Requirements:

Windows:
• Windows 2000, XP, or Vista (32 bit)
• Pentium III 1 GHz processor

Macintosh:
• Mac OS X 10.4 or 10.5
• G4, G5 or Intel processor

UltraSPARC Solaris:
• Solaris 10 (SPARC only)
• UltraSPARC IIc 500 MHz processor

Linux:
• RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 or Novell SUSE Linux 10 (32 bit)
• Pentium III 1 GHz processor

In addition, all students require:
• 256 MB of free RAM
• 20 MB free disk space
• 28.8 kbps Internet connection
• Java software

Students must have Java running on their system. If they do not have it, or if they are not sure the version they have will run the software, please go to www.java.com and download the latest free version from their site.

Students must have an echo-cancelling headset and a set of speakers so that they can interact with the students and teacher.

Some recommendations for equipment:
• Phoenix Audio Solo USB Microphone
• Logitech ClearChat Pro USB Headset
• Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 Headset
• Plantronics DSP-400 Stereo USB Headset (for PC & Mac users)

We recommend that all online students have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, as these progras may be used at some point in the classes.  Also, the student must have basic knowledge of the internet.

We ask that the students PLEASE have a QUIET environment to work in for class. It is distracting for the other students if there is a lot of background noise.
