Student Feedback at Midterm!

While talking with the students who are attending the current Let’s Learn Bookkeeping class, I heard some terrific feedback from them, as to how the first class is going as we are heading into the mid-term.

“Challenging, Fast Paced, Intense” said one of the students.

“I’m learning so much due to the reading and homework assignments” said another.

Let’s hope this first class gets their second wind after the midterm.

No Job Is Recession-Proof, but These Finance and Accounting Jobs Come Close

During a recession, the right job is like a bulletproof vest worn during a shoot-out. It won't guarantee you'll survive, but it boosts the chance you won't be taken out. While there's no such thing as a recession-proof job, some finance and accounting positions are less likely to be cut during corporate downsizings. Bookkeeping Field Projected Growth

Employment of bookkeeping, accounting and auditing clerks is projected to grow by 12 percent in the next eight years.  And as NBC24 found out in this Get A Job Monday report, Owens Community College is getting ready. Employment experts expect the fields of accounting and bookkeeping to grow by 12 percent by 2016; largely due to an expected change in business international reporting standards.   That controversial change will require retraining of those currently in the accounting field, but will also create more job opportunities.Owens Community College has seen a huge increase in the number of students going into accounting and bookkeeping, as its business program evolves. "We've seen more students in our two year program, and in our CPA Quality Certificate program," a spokesperson said. Students heading into the accounting and bookkeeping field say they are optimistic because they see accounting as something that is needed everyday in business. Source: Toledo On the Move
